It’s with great news that we can finally announce the reopening of the gym!

The government has given the green light for gyms to reopen on the 25th July with that being the case we will be commencing with our classes on Monday 27th July.

The general structure and timetable of the gym will need to change slightly to accommodate the government guidelines that have now been put in place. We will be following these until they ease to make sure that everyone can train in a safe environment.

1.

    1. Classes will be limited to 16 students per class

2.

    1. Students will be asked to sign a Covid 19 waiver before training

3.

    1. There will be a 30min interval between classes to ensure there is enough time for people to leave the gym before the next class starts. We will also use this time to sanitise all bags and gym equipment.

4.

    1. There will be an infrared temperature check on arrival

5.

    1. No changing rooms will be in use so please come already to train

6.

    1. Students are asked to keep a 2 meter distance where possible

7.

    1. Nobody will be permitted to stay and watch unless class numbers are low enough to accommodate the extra people. Any parents who feel uncomfortable leaving will be allowed to remain but you will have to wait in the communal area outside the gym and keep a 2 meter distance from other people.

8.

    1. You must have your own gloves etc and cannot use anyone else’s equipment

9.

    1. There will be sanitation stations and hand gel available

10.

Please do not come to the gym if you are showing any signs of being unwell or have felt unwell in the past 7 days.

We will be looking to recommence our memberships on the 15th August. If this is not you usual collection date then don’t worry, your payment date will remain the same. Any membership fees payable prior to your payments commencing can be taken by either cash or card on your arrival.

Below is our current amended timetable. To make sure you get the full benefit of our training we will constantly review the situation and make amendments as necessary.

Circuit Class is going from Strength to Strength

Posted by  | Categories: News

Our circuit class K-Star Legacy is fast becoming one of our most popular classes.

Circuit classes are a great way to improve you fitness no matter what level of fitness you are at.

One of the appealing things about the session is that you can go at your own pace. So if you are already super fit then you can really go for it or if you’re just starting out then you are able to go at a pace that best suites you.

More info about these classes at the gym.

Dan Edwards Challenges for 3rd World Title

Posted by  | Categories: News

K-Star Legacy’s Dan Edwards, who was already the S-3 world Muay Thai champion, went up in weight and challenged the hard hitting Adrian Garlonta of Romania for his second world title in April 2018.

Dan secured a convincing points victory and claimed the MTGP light heavyweight world title. Just a few months later Dan defended his title against Andrea Rizzi of Italy.

Again Dan schooled his opponent for the full five round and successfully defended his belt.

Now on the 6th April Dan will come back down to his natural weight and challenge UK Muay Thai legend Michael Wakeling for the MTGP Super Middleweight world title.

Tickets are available in the gym.

Geordie Shore's Aaron Chalmers visits K-Star Legacy.

Reality TV star Aaron Chalmers from the very popular show Geordie Shore came to train at K-Star Legacy. For those who didn’t know Aaron is a big fan of MMA and has already fought on the UK’s leading mixed martial arts promotion BAMMA.

Aaron is due to fight again on BAMMA on the 15th Sept at Wembley Arena. With that in mind and the fact that K-Star Legacy’s chief instructor Damien Trainor has been working with a mixture of top UFC and BAMMA fighters. Aaron had contacted Damien to help tighten up his striking in preparation for his contest.

Victory at the WRSA championships

K-Star Legacy had a great day the WRSA amateur British championships. We had four fighters enter and by the end of the day we came away with three new amateur British champions.

Originally we had 5 fighters due to compete but Jordan Matthews opponent didn’t show up. We were really upset about this as Jordan had been looking sensational in training.

First up for us was little Callum Walsh. Callum Obviously set a trend for us by winning the first of the belts for K-Star Legacy.

Next up was Ewelina Gorka, Ewelina had a slow start but came alive in the last round. She lost on points due to the early rounds but had apparently broken her opponents ribs in the last round.

Sharn Shelley had two thunderous fights which where action packed from start to finish. He stopped his first opponent and won on points in his second fight to win the WRSA British open title.

Then we just had 17yr old Ben Gordon move up to the adult division to also win the WRSA British open title in his weight category.

Myself and Simon Whitehead are extremely proud of everyone who competed today…well done everyone
